Davos: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar has expressed confidence that a stable government will be formed after the upcoming general elections on February 8, which will bring sustainable economic stability to the country.Â
"I see and project that there will be a lot of growth in Pakistan. There will be a sense of stability. Growth will be slow but it will be sustainable," the prime minister told CNBC on the sidelines of the 54th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). said in an interview.Â
He said that speculations regarding the holding of elections have been resolved and everyone is sure about the date of elections on February 8.Â
Prime Minister Kakar said that the top priority of the caretaker setup is to focus on economic recovery and growth and other economic indicators.Â
He said that the next government will have to follow the clear principle of spending less and earning more to achieve economic stability. "We need to bring the undocumented economy back to the documented economy and transform our state into a more viable economic entity," he added.Â
He highlighted that the caretaker government will publish a white paper on its performance in 4-5 months. "We have introduced and reformed the program within the tax system, we have brought structural changes that will be approved by the cabinet by the end of the first month, after which it will be implemented as a policy. "
He added that the caretaker government has aggressively privatized, it has cut its spending at the federal level and it is also trying to talk to the provinces so that they can rationalize their spending. Regarding the delay in the elections, the Prime Minister said that the country is facing legal and technical challenges related to the electoral process and procedures.Â
Responding to a question about the former PTI chairman, PM Kakar said that he was not in jail because of his political views but because of his alleged role in inciting riots and inciting his followers to create disturbances. They are in jail because of this. He said that those who were involved in riots are behind bars.Â
