Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have filed appeals in the Islamabad High Court against the conviction in the Cipher Missing and Tosha Khana cases.

These appeals have been filed by PTI's counsel Barrister Syed Ali Zafar. In these appeals, the orders given by the Special Judge and NAB during the jail trial of Imran Khan and his wife in Tosha Khana and Cipher case proceedings have been challenged.

Barrister Zafar has argued that both Imran Khan and his wife were duped, where the courts were not only acting unfairly and with undue haste, but also disregarding the fundamental right to a fair trial and due process. She was doing it.

I.n the filed appeals, it has been argued that Imran Khan and his wife have been wrongly sentenced by the accountability court and the special judge. Their freedom is violated by their fundamental rights provided under the Constitution of Pakistan 1973. The evidence adduced against him is in every way flimsy and fails to link him to the alleged allegations.

It has been stated in the appeals that both the NAB officials and the Special Judge have done a grave injustice to the victims while pronouncing their respective verdicts as the hearing of both the cases was completed within two to three weeks. Secondly, when the Islamabad High Court ordered the authorities to conduct the trial in an open court.

Thirdly, the judgments are illegal and unconstitutional as the rights of Imran Khan and his wife to a fair trial under Article 10 of the Constitution were violated when their cases were rushed to trial.

It was further contended by Barrister Zafar that both Imran Khan and his wife were entitled to cross-examine the prosecution witnesses (including other key witnesses) during the jail trial as evidence and defense. Not allowed.

In the filed petitions, it has been requested that the NAB officials and the special judge annul the verdicts given in the jail trials of the Tosha Khana and Cipher cases and acquit them of the charges and suspend their sentences.
