Counting of votes continues after millions of Pakistanis exercised their right to vote to elect their representatives for a five-year term amid nationwide internet and mobile blackouts, political violence and terrorist attacks.Â
17,816 independent and party-affiliated candidates contested for 265 National Assembly, 296 Punjab Assembly, 130 Sindh Assembly, 113 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 51 Balochistan seats.Â
Polling was held in 855 out of 859 constituencies, but due to the death of the candidate, voting will not be held in NA8, PP266, PK22 and PK91.Â
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has so far released the unofficial results of 2600out of 265 National Assembly seats.Â
According to unofficial results received by the electoral watchdog, independent candidates are leading with 101 seats while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is ahead with 75 seats.Â
Meanwhile, the Pakistan People's Party has so far managed to win 54 seats in the National Assembly. Moreover, MQM-P won 17 NA seats and IPP, BNP two each while JUI-F and Muslim League (Q) won three seats and MWM, PM El-Z won one seat in the National Assembly.Â
